Use linux lol. On windows YOU CANNOT. Even though if you put / in linux, in windows that folder would seem corrupt :P

Making my file or folder looking like corrupted is the idea. So noone will eaven bother looking at it. And it wont be accable  for any system.

I use Alternate Data Streams.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/windows-alternate-data-streams/

Best merge it with some porn or something that one would expect to be hidden, just in case somebody decides to go looking for them [ADS] with HijackThis' ADS finder or a similar tool.

But that's just for Windows.

I think someone found the right way to hide your files.

I used to have a folder on the desktop with a white background when I was a kid, and just change the icon to white. But I have no use for hidden folders now

There's no need to hide files, just encrypt your file with this software: aescrypt. Encrypt it with a strong, random generated password - memorize it - then your file is perfectly safe for another century or so.

I really think a century is far too generous for AES-128.

Unless you live in a country where refusing to hand over your crypto keys is a crime. Assuming you're hiding your data from the government, not your family, obviously.

your file is perfectly safe for another century or so.
AesCrypt hasn't been cryptographically analysed as much as gpg or pgp, so there could be flaws in the implementation. I'd just play it safe and stick to something else.

You can always set file attributes to hidden.
