Partition Not Found

I roughly formatted the Ubuntu System which is the default booting OS. I thought the computer may automatically change its partition.
Now my computer still has Windows 7 but I don't know how to run it.
Help.

Ok....

How bout an error message? Something besides help. So what you are saying is that you don't see an option for Windows in the GRUB loader? That could be easily fixed by editing the grub.cfg as far as I know. What version of Ubuntu?

As I understand he got rid of Ubuntu which had GRUB installed and now since the bootloader does not exist he can't boot windows anymore.
In that case, pop in your Windows disk, boot it up, load the recovery console and type "fixmbr". After that remove your disk, reboot and it should work.

Oh, I didn't understand that he got rid of Ubuntu, I thought he was saying he installed it. AFAIK though you need to enter two commands in the command prompt;

/bootrec fixboot

/bootrec fixmbr

Assuming he has a Windows disk. I had to make my own when I first had this problem

you might also have a recovery partition build in you hard drive. which would save you the work of finding a disk

Or he could just download a Windows ISO and burn it to a DVD -R

What if the laptop doesn't have CD-ROM?

Had this same thing happen to me. I had a disk, but if in case you dont, there is a free and legal site you can get win 7 iso's.

And if no cd rom, just burn the iso on a flash drive. If the laptop has no USB port, you may want to upgrade to a computer made within the last 10 years.

If you're going to install Windows onto a flash, I'd recommend using WinToFlash utility.
