My current machine:

ECS P4M800PRO-M2
Pentium 4 3.00GHz
2GB Ram
GeForce FX 5500

I think it would be reasonable for me to buy a new machine, I've been using my computer since I first learned to watch porn XD

My advice is don't spend so much. I have a PC which can run pretty much any game or 3d modelling software I know on full which cost me about £600 for all the parts (took a long time to save up though). Just spend your money wisely! There are lots of guides online to building a PC.

If you're planning on buying it not building it then fuck off.

...

...

Haha joking.

But seriously build it.

When you spend as much time as most of us around here, including myself. I dont think 1300$ is a lot of a computer. Hell I got a rig for perhaps 3000$.

Dont get that processor, its crap. If you can afford it get a more expensive motherboard that takes 2000mHz RAM and go for that instead.
The Intel 3770K processor is pretty hard core, but a tad expensive, the 2700K is about the same in performance and just a bit cheaper. Also, the video card is a bit old. But if you get two and bridge them I guess itll do. Remeber PSU, and make sure the processor socket matches the motherboard socket :P

Ps3 all day!

But thats a topic for a different thread maybe.

Do lots and lots of research @ OP. Otherwise you might make the mistake I did and realize you could have done something a lot better/cheaper after you've built it.

Get an SSD as well as a HDD. HDD for saving files like work stuff and SSD for running big programs.

you just dont pay extra for a sticker but for a professional and better service with some branded name on it.I really had bad experience with assembled PCs.Hope u understand.

Only time it is a good idea to buy a pre assembled branded system is for laptops. Otherwise its WAY WAY cheaper and better because you can buy the parts YOU want and NEED. Support is as good as you make it, if you have a problem with your motherboard(example), email or call the motherboard manufacturer.

With XBOX360 you have to subscribe and pay to be able to game on XBox Live.

But, as skidiot.h shows, you can "obtain" it other ways.

;-)

There are pros and cons to both systems and I speak that I have both systems. I haven't played games on my PC since Counter Strike 1.6 days (along with Blizzard's Starcraft+Broodwar Expansion) Since then I had an OG XBOX, never went online, had mine modchipped as well as did softmods for others ($40 = softmodd your xbox with 10 games of your choice or modchip your XBOX for $100 +10 Games your choice)

Anyways. I would highly suggest console gaming as PC gaming's kind of died down. Yes there's still a market for it, but meh PS3/XBOX360 is the way to go.

Don't know which one to buy?

PS3:
Pros:
*Great for Solo Gameplay
*Bluray
*Media
*Free to play online as well as other services (hulu/netflix)
*Full Browser
Cons:
*Lack of Multiplayer Games

XBox 360:
Pros:
*Lots of Games
*Great for everyone of all ages
*Xfinity (pretty much turn your console into an on demand cable box
Cons:
*Pay to play online
*Need to be Gold to watch netflix/hulu/xfinity

So it really depends on what you're going to be doing with the console. If you want it for gaming with your friends get the XBox 360 (Using some special coupons, no need to pay for online play/other goodies)

If you want to enjoy a collection of movies, music, tv shows, etc. and single player gaming I would go with the PS3

But hey thats my $0.02

Are you reusing any parts from the old machine?  If building from the ground up, check a couple of sites for their $1000 to 1500 builds.  Toms Hardware is usually pretty good on build guides and they give reasons why they went that way.  Might be a good starting point for you.
