Since nobodies started this thread yet it would appear, what did you get for christmas???
I got a 42inch plasma tv, a 1tb external harddrive, 5 sets of guitar strings, a Stevie Ray Vaughn tab book, an RC car, a $75 gamestop card, a bass guitar amp, an original xbox, a vegetarian cookbook, and a tattoo of a variation of the backtrack logo that I designed :D. Oh and about $550 in christmas money, but 90% of it came from my grandpa that gave me a bunch because he might not know who I am next year :/ he has really bad alzheimers :(.
This is actually alot for me, I'm really surprised with how much I got this year. I think it might be in part because I'm moving out in a few months, but it seems like people just randomly had money to spend on pointless things so they gave me stuff :D. Normally I wouldn't have gotten the TV or the tattoo, and probably not nearly that much money. Those 3 things were the most expensive out of mine and my christmas would have probably been affordable if it wasn't for those..

Some kitchen utensils and a space heater. Oh and bills, bills I don't have money for.

What I don't get is why you say you have bad parents...
Either way, I got a clock that looks like a tuna can, candies, a mug, a gift card and some money.
Edit: Shit, I just hit 100 posts! Must. Ask. VIP. NOW! (jk)

I didn't celebrate Christmas, it doesn't play a big part in my life.

I didn't celebrate Christmas, it doesn't play a big part in my life.
Well, it doesn't play a big part in my life too, but its a day when most people are off work, at home with friends and families, having nice meals, socializing, exchanging gifts, making each other happy. A day when streets are decorated and make my evening walks a bit more nice and beautiful.
So even though it doesn't mean much to me, it it a nice day to relax a bit and just enjoy the company of my family and friends. So in a way, I do celebrate it. Why not ;)
At least that's how I see it.

Where I live it's not a day where people are off work. It's just one regular day out of 365 days.
-
I got nothing.Instead,it was a very bad day for me.
There was no electricity for the whole day.
-
Off work my ass I had to work for the last 8 hours of Christmas eve and the last 8 hours of Christmas day (4pm-12pm both days) I got a hand crocheted blanket from my Wifey, Uncharted 3 for the ps3 from my homie, and then $50 from my grandma. I got presents for a bunch of people, yet didn't get shit back except for those 3. Guess that's what I get for being nice but whatever...
Merry Christmas to those that celebrate it.

As for gifts, I discussed what I wanted for Christmas with my parents and got a green light for buying a book about computer architecture that I wanted. The rest of the day was spent with family.

Well, I got about $250 in cash, about $150 in gift cards, various clothing items, SOCKS!, and my girlfriend is getting me a rasberry pi and she is taking me to see The Hobbit. I'm also giving myself an ounce and a new piece.
I got way more than I expected this year. This year was like the hardest year my family has had, but one of the best Christmases I've had in a while.

Raspberry Pi Oh My Godzzzzz, techb drooooolzzzz. If she ordered it a month or so ago you'll get it soon, if not you have a bit of a wait. If you need help with it or anything, I'm here for ya. I couldn't wait for a RasPi so I got BeagleBoard instead. But really, throw Arch****** or Ubuntu on it and epic things can happen. I wish I had one to at least see the bandwagon, but really once you get it you can do some cool shit. Like a MAME controller, or even Legacy console controller, robotics, wardraving like a boss, handheld anything, flying cracker, anything... Hell do like me and get some OpenCV on it and gunturret/wearable-computer-thing.
I'm here to help if you get stuck.

You could build a flying (if you had a hobby plane) war driver. We are talking somthing that flys with GPS check-points, breaking WEP wifi and gathering data along with other things. It could log said wifi points, with realtime data, then creak said points.
If you went another way with it, OpenVC to do object tracking, pending on what sensors you intergrated, thermal vision, distance, GPS way-points, text message based updates, etc.... Embedded things can be epic. Just saying with a $35 device.

A knocked up wife and 8 hours of double time and a hydrocodone from a concerned friend who didn't want me to go ballistic on people at work during those 8 hours. :o
