Anonymity and Privacy / Re: Idea for "Super secure" P2P chat.

proxx - take a look at waste - it used to kick ass a while back and is still in use today in certain corners of the net - supports chat and various encryption standards reaching up to 4096bit - lightweight, decentralised and open source - the code's probably worth a browse if you're interested, and can be picked up at sourceforge...

Found it on the Webs / Re: The death of Firefox
« on: January 30, 2013, 11:14:00 am »
firefox was always destined to die - i've had it installed since it was phoenix, and nameless before that (nia 2) - but firefox was always going to go the same way as netscape and mozilla in general.
mo: start from scratch and build a really streamlined, high speed browser for the masses.
5+ years later: the browser starts to slow due to the amount of bloat added (by demand)
nearly a decade later: the browser is a clunky mess of high editable code badly in need of a rewrite.
x amount of time later: look internet! we're gonna release a new, streamlined browser for YOU, because YOU asked for it.
and so it goes on.
i used to use firefox a lot for general browsing - opera has been my main browser since the late 90's, but firefox was a decent alternative, and using some of the great extensions put it ahead of the competition for a good while, imo; but it's been on the slide for a while now, and no doubt it will be reincarnated under a new guise during the next couple of years.
i still have firefox installed on my linux and windows boxes as the extensions are handy and mantra can be really useful, but i'm using opera and iron for my main browsing needs now...
as far as the ff os goes, does anyone really give a damn..?

paying for any 'anon' service is pretty pointless/insane. it goes against the whole point of it being anonymous in the first place.
if you're after proxies etc, you're better off setting up your own - after gaining access to whatever, drop your own proxy/station and use that - it's the only way you can be sure that the proxy is not logging.
what companies say they do and what actually happens are often different things.
look at the track record of hidemyass for a basic example...

Tutorials / Re: Brief Introduction To Piracy 101. [Usenet - Linux]
« on: December 04, 2012, 03:28:52 pm »

I wouldn't even concider the notion of using a service that you pay for to download content illegally.

nobody should ever, ever be paying for usenet access - you should only pay for an ACTUAL ISP and not a telco - which is how the bulk of people in the west get their net connections.
