The death of Firefox

I cannot recall the last time a page took 30 seconds or a minute to load, but yes, if it were going that slow, that would make a difference. I have never noticed a 2 minute start time for FF either, idk, maybe if you are on a really old computer, but mine is like, 4 or 5 years old and runs plenty fast. I am not denying that Chrome is faster, but I just don't really think it is a noticeable difference in general usage.

Mine, or rather, my wifes is about ~6 years old. I think the problem is Vista though, or the crazy amount of shit that is on it. The init start time is bad, if it has been opened before a reboot it's not so bad.

I tend to open a lot of tabs at once and chrome likes to create a new process, plus each addon uses its own process and I find that Chrome uses A LOT more resources then my Firefox. Firefox+httpseverywhere+adblock+ginger is all I need and use and I don't suffer from any speed or performance issues. That and I've used Firefox for years and wont be picking up chrome. EVER

I guess it depends on what OS and system I'm on. Chrome for Vista (except le wifeys laptop...), FF Win7, FF *Nix, Chrome Xp, and that depends on hardware also.

Yeah I used Vista and it was just slow as hell, I got 7 and everything is a lot faster, plus it was a great opportunity for me to get rid of stuff and streamline everything.

I personally use firefox on linux and windows and I find it better than chrome and it is the best browser I found.I have tested chrome,firefox,opera,safari.

I normally use Chrome, but sometimes when I feel like chrome doesn't handle things right, I launch up ff and the problem is solved. I think that ff will live long and prosper.

I notice too many problems with chrome and safari, and any issues I have with FF I know how to fix, so I use it. Although, I don't like the new look of it, it looks just like every other browser now and there is no point to having a skin anymore cuz you can't see it anyway.

You can make it have the regular menu bar, then it looks like older ff, and you can actually see your skin.

firefox was always destined to die - i've had it installed since it was phoenix, and nameless before that (nia 2) - but firefox was always going to go the same way as netscape and mozilla in general.
mo: start from scratch and build a really streamlined, high speed browser for the masses.
5+ years later: the browser starts to slow due to the amount of bloat added (by demand)
nearly a decade later: the browser is a clunky mess of high editable code badly in need of a rewrite.
x amount of time later: look internet! we're gonna release a new, streamlined browser for YOU, because YOU asked for it.
and so it goes on.
i used to use firefox a lot for general browsing - opera has been my main browser since the late 90's, but firefox was a decent alternative, and using some of the great extensions put it ahead of the competition for a good while, imo; but it's been on the slide for a while now, and no doubt it will be reincarnated under a new guise during the next couple of years.
i still have firefox installed on my linux and windows boxes as the extensions are handy and mantra can be really useful, but i'm using opera and iron for my main browsing needs now...
as far as the ff os goes, does anyone really give a damn..?

Nope... FF is not gonna die... from my experience it's still the best...


(I've 7 browsers installed in my laptop and i use them all)
