Hacking and Security / Re: Changing default port OpenSSH
« on: September 23, 2013, 11:25:18 pm »
Yeah I should have thought of that sooner, sorry for wasting people's time.
All good. You know I did the same thing this weekend when I forgot I changed the static IP of the PC I was trying to SSH into.  Since I had changed modems and stopped using the router as an access point, it's rules came into play. Fun stuff!

This article is actually relevant to what I do daily. I work the other side of the fence, removing blacklists and tracking down spammers. I enjoyed this. Keep up the good work.

i didn't go far as i had xpected because i can't start softICE NT Manually yet it installed successfully even skype recognizes that it is installed.
"Skype is not compatible with system debuggers like SoftICE" i think this shows the SoftICE is installed right??

but when you try to start it it only gives a flash on the screen then goes off and i don't want to start softice automatically when the system starts...

and i think i have already tried gettin' ma hands a lil dirty and i don't want to try so hard

If you're not wanting to try hard why bother at all?

Sadly I get to see these daily and the blacklists that go along with them.

General discussion / Re: Question on deleting a bunch of files.

Yeah i figured. Thing is i never learned how to import files or execute commands outside of the IDLE; still learning.

Thanks though, I’m looking at them manually. A lot of them are in the same folder and some of them are not too useful so I’m just deleting the folder.
Is this Linux or Windows? Linux just take your list and rm -rf $(<list) and you're done.

Seen before but still a good tut. It does basically use Google and several other sources to scrape emails but much quicker IMo than manually doing it. +1

Hacking and Security / Re: Malicious webmaster tricks of the trade

95% of the actual malicious code I clean daily is Javascript. The 5% left over is .htaccess and php redirects or php shells. Even then the key to success is carefully meshing the code with the flow of the site to make it appear legitimate. Heavy obfuscation is needed where someone may determine that you put it there. Most hosts won't take the time to decipher it, only remove it. Best way to possibly go about it is actually pull the code from somewhere else. This makes it much much harder to track.

As long as there is internet, there will be exploitation. Starting where we are now will lead you to where it's going.

.NET Framework / Re: Visual Basic 6 (Question)
« on: January 05, 2013, 12:02:38 am »
I agree with Vezzy here. I wouldn't really even bother with V6. There are plenty of E-books available that you can toss the VB6 book out the door. Ironically I had one as well which met the same fate, but I had it sitting around for 8 years too lol. But I'd look at C# if you're going to work with Windows. I personally haven't touched it, but I work with a few people that enjoy it.

General discussion / Re: Arch Linux

I'm both a Windows and Linux user. Each have their advantages. Personally I just don't feel like fighting with my Nvidia drivers on my main PC. My laptop I only boot Linux on. I have 2 VM's on my main PC with Linux running. 1 Backtrack the other Fedora. So I dunno why it would be disappointing that there are a lot of Windows users.

Netflix on linux doesn't work. Something to do with DRM.

There is a 'hack' for it.

https://launchpad.net/netflix-desktop

I personally haven't tried it, mostly because my own PC is using an Nvidia card which the driver's were only working part of the time anyway, so I mostly just run windows with a VM of whichever distro I'm using.

Aye, I'm aware. Don't care much. PC  isn't mine. The fact that they won't even attempt to learn Linux which I can setup pretty close to Windows (I haven't tried setting up Netflix Desktop yet) . So meh. I'm not getting anything out of this anyway, was just something the wife dumped on me from someone at her work. I clean up enough malware daily.

I can download it for ya then

Much appreciated, I have it going. Thanks for pointing it out though. A friend of mine had sent me one from MSDN but I really didn't feel like trying to do the customization needed just to install on 1 PC.

Update : Worked like a charm... well except having to find freaking drivers for the Lan and trying to get around all the BS just to update the damned thing. Thanks a ton. Now I can stop being bothered by my wife on this damned PC.

Download and install this

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7355371/Dell_Windows_XP_Media_Center_Edition_2005_SP2_ISO

Since it's a Dell you can use a Dell OEM disc and not need the key

I'll check it out. I've honestly steered clear of torrents for awhile. Even though I'm on business Cable, Comcast likes to be nosey and I'm not tunneling my connections.
