General discussion / Re: pornhub redirects
« on: January 27, 2016, 09:13:58 am »
ye, that's what I'd say.. however, it doesn't make much sense. As I said, I am not 'physically' being redirected to all of those sites. The advertised sites might record a visit from me somehow, but the chance of me being a lead customer is 0%, as I don't even see the site.

General discussion / pornhub redirects
« on: January 24, 2016, 06:30:30 pm »
Just out of curiosity, I was monitoring my traffic today...

I went to pornhub.com but saw that at least 30-40 additional request to different porn-related sites were made.
Usually I get redirected once or so from the actual site. This was kinda interesting to me...

1. do all the other request really come from pornhub ?
2. if so, what is the reason behind this ? If it's purely marketing, I don't see the point really - as the end user will only be redirected once, maybe couple of times.
3. or is it only showing the sources of all the adverts and additional content from the site ?

I apologize for using a porn site as an example, but this is the only time I've noticed something like this happening.

hmm, that's weird. Now I tried again, and it works all good. Not sure what's happening.
Anyway, thank you for the info.

Anonymity and Privacy / unreliable VPS socks proxy ?
« on: September 17, 2015, 09:42:24 pm »
I have a VPS in USA, use Putty to make the connection and then ProxyCap to tunnel all traffic via SOCKS 5 127.0.0.1.

It was working fine, until I've noticed one thing.. as I am in Germany right now, many of youtube videos are blocked. So I connected to my VPS as usual, but I was still unable to watch it. Therefore I checked my IP through a couple of sites. The weird thing is, most of the sites showed my actual location in Germany... however some showed the IP of the VPS in USA. Also a test from speedtest.net showed significantly slower speeds (as is usual for VPS). a

So I am quite puzzled now. Does anybody have experience with this ? What's the reason for this ? Is there a way to make it work the way it should be ?

Thanks for all your input.

General discussion / list of all .eu domain names
« on: September 17, 2015, 09:30:49 pm »
I was trying to do some research on the topic, but nothing I've found does not really provide any answer or reference.

My client is looking to find a list of all domain names ending with .eu.
I would personally say it's almost impossible, but my knowledge in this area is very limited...

Is there a way / direct resource to download a list of all .eu domain names ?

Thanks for help.

hmm.. very interesting analogy. But I am afraid I didn't quite grasp the meaning.
Perhaps another sign that I am still new in the 'hacking business'.

you're right. I only have one wifi adapter (wlan0) and the screen is taken from airodump on mon0.
And ye, I am trying to do some intensive reading on this stuff right now..
Sorry about the pic.

// Just an update...strangely enough, the second time I ran Kali, the networking worked fine and I was able to see the wifi connections.Didn't have to do any tweaking.

First time reaver ran successfully for some time.. but now, whenever I run it I always get this error:
Code: [Select]
Failed to associate with XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (ESSID: name)
Perhaps the signal is not strong enough? (-80 dB).. or there's something wrong with my network adapter?I'll need to do some more research on this.

Seems to be much more problematic than I though it would be :D

ok, so I successfully did a live boot. This time, it recognized the wlan0 interface, but I had no connection to the internet.
I also couldn't see any of the wifi connections.

This is what I got..

Now when it seems confirmed that virtualbox+internal wifi is not going to work in this case, why not liveboot kali and try that way to do what ever you are going to do. Have you checked if your internal wifi adapter even supports monitor mode?
ye, I thought about that option too.. but I never liked live-booted things. Idk why really.
My wifi adapter is Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter which according to the link above from Shome should be supported.

Open your virtual box settings and go to networking. Their will be a tab called adapter 1. I'll assume your VM has internet access anyway and this is probably why.

The issue with your mon0 interface is probably because it does not have it's own interface via adapter 2. Just a hunch but check it out anyway?
Do you think this would suffice? Ralink should be supported on Linux (I am not sure if the fact that it runs on VM makes any difference here).
madf0x do you use a more expensive card? Would you recommend the above one? (link)
I will need to do some more reading, just to make sure it's compatible...

ok, thanks a lot for the suggestions.

I'll look into it tomorrow and will edit this post (as I won't have internet anymore in like 5 minutes - that's why I need to crack neighbors wifi :P )

yes, Win8.. could've mentioned that before, sorry.
The video is basically useless in this specific instance.
syntax990, I don't think just routing would work. Right now I have it set up on bridged with my host's wifi adapter, but when I run something like airmon-ng I don't see any interface.

I guess trying the Aircrack Windows version is just a waste of time?
And so would be this kind of bullshit, right?

Recently I needed to get into a protected wifi (and I took it as a good opportunity for me to finally start with Kali and penetration testing).

I have installed Kali on Virtualbox but the problem arises with the wifi adapter.
From what I understand, it is necessary to have an external USB wifi adapter with injection capabilities, in order to do any kind of wifi hacking.

My question is..  is there a way around it? I've done some research and came across this article and seems like it might be what I am looking for.
Right now, I am not in a position to buy a new piece of hardware...
Is there not a driver that I could use for this purpose? When I tried adding a USB device in Virtualbox, none of my laptop's network adapters appeared.

Thanks for suggestions.

Anonymity and Privacy / Re: anonymous on the uni internet

Ok, so right now I am using a combination of VPS and VPN quite effectively.
SSH over port 443 to VPS, using Proxycap to limit the SOCKS proxy only to a VPN client (bypassing the uni firewall) and using the VPN locally on my notebook.

/Edit:
Apparently the VPN now functions without the ssh proxy as well. I am not really sure why.

I just don't understand why a service like whatismyip.com shows the 'spoofed' IP address, but google still recognizes the original location.

A VPN encrypts your traffic but it doesn't hide your identity. Only way to do that is to use Tor to connect to your VPN. Of course your VPN when being used will always be the ISP and specific country you see on dnsleaktest and whatsmyip.
I am talking about Spotflux here...
