Sweet mother of christmas there are a lot of leeches. Maybe you should remove users if they don't post or comment frequently enough.

Since Android phones have no open ports and are really locked down by default, pretty much your only option is with a malicious apk.
You might be able to do something with a pdf file though, although I imagine the best that could do (if it's possible) is to crash the device since android has no terminal.

Just wondering what jobs all you guys have and what you'd like to be doing in the future.
I'm interested how many people here actually have a job in cyber security  :)

I'm currently in my final year of A level but I'm hoping to go and work for some cyber security companies in my area when I leave.

p.s. Sorry if this is the wrong board  :-\

Tested in arch linux - I would appreciate it if anyone would test it in Windows.
Any tips welcome (obviously)

Do you guys actually do illegal stuff or do you practise on VMs and the like?
I don't know if questions like this are allowed so please don't move me to the BoS  :-\

Beginner's Corner / How do you use a password cracker practically?
« on: February 25, 2015, 05:48:15 pm »
I was thinking about this the other day and I'm just interested whether I got it right.

Is it?
  • Get access to machine e.g. exploit
  • find password file
  • get password file off computer (ftp, tftp ?)
  • crack password file
That's just my guess, let me know if that's right  :)

Operating System / Re: LFS vs Gentoo vs Slackware
« on: February 19, 2015, 07:04:44 pm »
To be honest, never used Gentoo or LFS. Slackware, on the other hand, is my main OS.

It is customizable to the very end, as every OS you mentioned.
Packages are not always very new, it has a rather conservative version policy, but it's always possible to download and compile from source. By default, it is quite secure and can be hardened, since you have control over everything.

I hope this short insight helps.

Thanks for the advice

Operating System / LFS vs Gentoo vs Slackware
« on: February 19, 2015, 06:50:37 pm »
Like the title says. I have Antergos Linux installed on my laptop but I'm looking for something different. Which one do you guys reckon is the best for:
A) Customizability
B) Keeping Packages/Applications up to date
C) Security
