Handy tricks/shortcuts
« on: May 12, 2013, 08:44:04 pm »
I was wondering if anyone knows some useful shortcuts.  Here are some of the ones I use a lot:

Ctrl+Shift+T = Open that tab that you just closed. (Tested in Firefox)
Ctrl+Tab = Switch tabs. (Tested in Firefox)
Middle click OR Ctrl+click = Open link in new tab. (Tested in Firefox and IE)
Middle click while hovering over tab = Close tab. (Tested in Firefox and IE)
Ctrl+B = open bookmarks (Tested in Firefox)
Triple click = Select the whole line.
Windows key+R = quickly open a program. (Tested in Windows and Debian w/ XFCE)
Windows key+M = Minimize all windows. (Tested in Windows)
Alt+Tab = Switch windows. (Tested in Windows and Debian w/ XFCE)
Ctrl+Shift+Escape = Open task manager. (Tested in Windows)
Ctrl+A = Select all
Windows key+M, Ctrl+A, Enter = Fuck with people. (Tested in Windows, should work in Linux)

Anyone else know some useful shortcuts?  Try to keep it to standard applications and OS shortcuts.

Thanks,
3vilp4wn.

Why, what else but the infamous Alt+F4 (Close window)?

I didn't know that one, nice!

Alt + Ctrl + Del keys = open task manager too
It's worth noting that in some versions of windows, this will open a list of things you can do, with one of the options being task manager.

bla bla windows bla bla boring.
Then tell us some shortcuts for linux! (or whatever you use.)

You usually need to manually bind the Ctrl+Alt+T terminal shortcut though, at least in Debian/Ubuntu-like distros.

You usually need to manually bind the Ctrl+Alt+T terminal shortcut though, at least in Debian/Ubuntu-like distros.

Everything I mentioned is manual key binding except the tty shell. Also Mint and Ubuntu ctrl+alt+t bring up a shell for me right out of the box, no manual anything.
