You should of bought an Acer laptop.

Idk why all y'all hating on Acer totally a legitimate investment on my end. cheap , and plenty of replacements if you need them. as well as they are making some money now and are putting out with some really nice looking machines, i know alot of people probably just say fuck looks but i personally love sexy ass laptops :)

Acer aspire S7: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/aspires7

Edit: Oh and to help with the thread, if you are only using a laptop and have some sort of desk set up i would highly recommend getting a desk monitor. If not i think everyone has already answered it with the replacement idea.

Like someone mentioned, it looks just like a mac.. Sure there's replacement parts everywhere, they're easy to fix, and all that, but don't you think there's a reason the parts are so cheap and easy to come by..?

Well for me the reason i dislike macs isn't because the way they look. I think it puts a good taste into the exterior design of laptops, and ya Acer did start from Walmart shelves but i think they are pointing themselves in a decent direction. I see where the skepticism comes from though why buy something cheap and maybe end up replacing parts all the time kind of idea. It's a laptop though like what was mentioned before, they are just something you go through in a certain amount of years now days. If i had any advice id say stick with a rig build it yourself and order all the parts from newegg, but for a laptop i think its an acceptable aesthetically pleasing choice.

Why not try and start building a rig, you can get the best 'bang for your buck' from sites like newegg or ebay (if you trust people) :)

Oh no, I'm definitely doing that as soon as possible. But, that still sets me back around 1000 bucks and now I really wanna fix my laptop because I would like to have a laptop AND a desktop. Not to mention other expenses... But yes, I am looking into getting the parts to build my own rig.

I guess I can't remain completely adamant about hating them, I did give my (ex) girlfriend an Acer that I had rebuilt and it's lasted since I gave it to her 2 months ago. Maybe you're right about them going in the right direction, but they've still got a ways to go before I start to like them, even though they are cheap.

Sounds just like my dilemma..I have a laptop and a desktop, but my desktop is kinda crap so I put linux on it and as soon as I have time to learn how to use my rubber ducky I'm going to use it mostly for that. The problem I'm having with linux is getting my goddamn wireless card drivers installed. I followed multiple guides but I always get the same error.

I don't know about lucid, but it's mostly money for me.
