Notebook HDD overheat

I just brought lenovo z580. Its HDD got around 53 Celsius when download torrent, around 50 when idle. I brought cooling pad but temp are still high. Any suggestion?

From a fast google search, it looks like it is normal on that model. As long as the temp doesn't go beyond 55º C, you should be fine. Since you just *bought it, there should be no dust problems, I assume.

Thats not really an unsafe temperature for HDD's
Lookup the model and search for its normal operating temps.

Are you running windows ?

Nothing wrong, just an uncooled HDD. And it's a notebook afterall, these things get hot.

Just be sure to not do intesive tasks while killing the ventilation, that might burn things xD

Yep, I am running windows, and sorry for misspell word. Is it really normal? I mean my cooling pad has dual 140mm fan running at 1200 rpm(Strongest one i can find in tech shop) and the notebook is still that hot (Btw cpu and  gpu don't have heat problem).


Edit: I bought notebook for demanding application like Photoshop and Matlab.

IMO and experience, cooling pads were never very effective.

Lookup the model of the drive and search for operation temperatures.
On winblows I have no idea, for linux you can set aggresive spindowns etc etc.
Which could potentially drasticly decrease temps.
But who uses windows anyway

I tweaked my laptop so that I have about 150% of the battery life compared to windows and lower operation temperatures.

It's not a heat problem FFS. As stated on the forums of lenovo it's an uncooled HDD not placed near a vent or heat pipe. 50 celcius is really nothing for a computer.

Yeah warm palms is very very very annoying.
I always hook up a keyboard and mouse for this reason.
