Swedish VPNs
« on: June 06, 2013, 03:07:17 pm »
I was at a Buddhist retreat for a few weeks and there I met a security specialist who is paid to hack systems for companies to test how vulnerable they are. He didn't seem to like talking about work unfortunately, but he did still inform me about a few things. He says that the best VPNs are ones based in Sweden because in Sweden, they are not legally obliged to keep logs or something like that. Just thought I'd share that bit of info in case anyone here doesn't know about it.

You are correct, Sweden has great laws regarding logging data inside of Sweden. As soon as data passes the Swedish border, or rather internet exchange, it is logged.

As far as VPS goes, I've heard nothing but good for moln.is which is located in Iceland from what I remember.

I'm currently using a Swedish VPN (not that I use it much though) and I have never experienced any problems with it. Great speed and stability.

As for the guy you were talking with he's probably working as a pen tester and he is forbidden by his job to talk about what he do. He get access to a lot of confidential information which could harm the companies and he's therefore not allowed to talk about such.
