Board specific moderator application!

Hello Evilzone members,


As you know, Evilzone is always trying to expand in various ways, and this time I want to offer the opportunity to some members to apply for a moderator position. The moderator position is board specific, so you get a green moderator sign and you will only be able to moderate in the assigned boards.


-One member can be assigned to multiple boards.
-One Board can posses multiple moderators
-This is mostly a Trial, and we can disable your moderator capabilities when we think it is not a great contribution or you don't have the "Moderator Fu"
-A member who has moderated specific boards for some time, and when we like you and you did your job well you can expect a Global Moderator status (and you have the required knowledge in the global Evilzone field).
-You will always contact a higher staff member in situations of doubt.

1: Board/Board's you like to moderate on
2. Times a day/week you check the forum/the Board's/Board you are applying for
3. A quick explanation of your knowledge according to the board's name (For example: Android, i am well educated in android hacking and development etc.)
4: A motivation

Great. I was having a discussion on this with Kulver on IRC, yesterday.

Here goes,

1. Members Introduction
2. I check the forum whenever I get time. But to be more specific, my time frame is normally from 3pm to 5pm and then 8pm to 10pm. Which is, of course, my local(Pakistani) time.
3. I don't think I really need any knowledge to be moderating the Members Introduction board apart from good grammar, good spelling and patience.
4. My motivation comes from my past. I remember myself asking stupid questions on defacing sites and other lame stuff. I don't want the new members to be making my mistakes and the Intro board is a great place for me to put them right.

Advice: be flexible with the trigger, but when you think you can correct a newbie show him the good way to do that instead.

On top of that, whenever you see so stupid intros that you get cancer. Just delete it.

2: Multiple times a day, I visit evilzone at least 5-10 times a day.
3: Over the last couple years Ive gained quite some experience with members of the unix familiy, windows from early days till now, also the server editions, some android. Only osx is completely unknown to me and I like to keep it that way
4: Ive been roaming fora for the last 7-8 years at least thus having a lot of experience in that field in general. To my suprise I am most active in the OS section according to my statistics.
It might be a good learning experience for me because I can be a bit harsh sometimes.
As a moderator one needs to a little more gentle yet direct.
Last but not least, I Love EZ and I want to help out.

3. I am curious person therefor I read about all kind of religions. Most interesting for me, and acceptable is Budhism but that's not importatn atm. About politics, well , since I am 20 years old, I am interested how some people lead county, not only country where I live, but others as well. Most immportant part i follow is protests and reasons for it, and freedom of speach that can be baned by politicians.4: This is board I like mostly even I didn't post till now much. Just to mention that I am not doing this because there will be some rank or whatever it is , I'd like to help Evilzone community with my knowledge and impartial work.

2:I check EZ pretty much the second i wake up and right before i sleep, and all throughout the day.


3: Well i think the big thing we are after in this board is the culling of non inquisitive minds(which mostly takes care of itself) and positive response to those who have come here to grow. Despite being new to these forums, i am not new to giving guidance towards a goal or slapping a hand when it does something it shouldn't. 


4. Motivation=knowledge. By this i mean that i LOVE knowledge, about anything. At the same time i realize that without people looking to share it, that we would have none. I want to learn, i want to teach, and i think this is a particularly good attitude for a mod on the board i am applying too.

Well I talked with ande earlier and I told him that I would reply to this thread if I decided to offer my help, so here I am.

1: I had a really hard time on this one but I have decided that the "members introduction" board would be my board of choice for now.

2. Do you really have to ask? I'm online on IRC almost all day and when I'm online in IRC I'm also on the forum.

3. Why I think I'm capable of doing the job? I have pretty much used 1.5 year on teaching new people and guiding them into this "world". I have released two tutorials on helping people getting started on hacking the most known would probably be "Where to start with hacking". I like guiding new people, though I at the same time want them to think and get into the mindset it requires to do this. I will take on the battle against all the skids and make them more mature! <-- Impossible task. AND Pak_Track would totally not be able to run that board by himself...lol.

4: Motivation? Heh, I always ready to help though I like to point people in the right direction instead of just giving them the answers. Let's show people how this works!

Thanks for the application, i am pleased to see that you are enjoying your time on evilzone. But any evilzone staff member should be a part of the community for some time and known well among the Staff and core members. Maybe in the future! enjoy your time here.
