Unsure about language
« on: June 24, 2013, 01:36:51 am »
I have been beginning to learn C++ the last week and it's gone so far so good.
However, I read that for website exploiting I need to learn PHP, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, ASP, ASP.NET and Perl.

Website exploiting perhaps may be a better path for a beginner which caused me to think:
Should I just stop w/ C++ and change routes and learn HTML or something? What is your advice?

Continue learning C++ and at the same time learn HTML/PHP, if you can handle that.

You shouldn't change to website security becuase you think that would be easier.. You should learn what you find interesting, just don't learn what you think would be easier to learn. Show some enthusiasm. In my opinion you should only move if you lost your interest in C++ programming. You have started out a hard place though and you will have to work hard to achieve what you have started. But don't change topic all the time, you won't come far by doing that. Focus on one thing and become good at it.

P.S. This topic does not belong in the Hacking and Security board.

You'll probably grasp comprehension of other languages easier if you learn C++.
PHP, in addition to a long list of languages, has a syntax similar to C++. The only thing you'll have to really learn is the standard library.

Yeah I'm sticking to C++ for sure. I was just curious about other languages and their purpose. I'm also starting to familiarize myself w/ HTML now. Thanks guys and my apologies for posting it in the wrong section. I had no idea where this would go.

If you were curious about other languages and what they are meant for you should have made a thread about that instead. Or even better use Google!
