Hacking & Security section rewamp
« on: June 03, 2011, 03:42:33 am »
Good evening Evilzone.

I have for a longer time period wanted to do something about the Hacking and Security section(among others). It's boards are a bit limiting, and confusing. So I have come up with a start of a outline for a new Hacking and Security section. But I don't want to make this decision alone; So I am asking you to comment, change, rearrange and think about this suggestion:

Quote
Scene news                (hacking and security related news, anonymous, sony, hd more, wikileaks, whatever the case might be)
Beginner area                (Exploitation methology, what is software security, what is network security, etc, where to start)
Application security            (Software exploitation, overflows, underflows, reverse engineering, patching, code auditing)
network security            (Server management/security, IDS, IPS, firewall, neat server software, installing stuff)
- Local network                (IP spoofing, MAC spoofing, IP stealing, MAC stealing, IP conflicting, Network cripling, router hacking, modem hacking(from the inside, not like hacking your modem to get 909999kbits))
- Wireless security            (Cracking wireless networks, sniffing wireless networks, WEP, WAP, WPA, WPA2, wireless encryption, antenas, cracking software, bluetooth, radio, gprs)
computer security            (Secuing your computer, antivirus, antimalware, antispam, common sense, good software, bad software)
- Malware                            (Rats, bots, trojans, viruses, adware, malware, nukes, anti-all of the infront)
- Computer forensics            (Investigation, pro and anti forensics, HDD crypting, logs, fake logs, remote logging, and a truckload of more topics)
Exploits                           (Windows, linux, exploits, topics like: "Windows XXXXX, Build XXXXX, Updates up to XXXX exploit", "Linux kernel 2.x.x.x-2.x.x.x xxxx exploit". And other larger exploits)
Anonymity and Privacy       (Proxies, socks, internet smartness, ISP's, threats)
Cryptography                (General cryptography topics, decryption, encryption, detecting encryption)
- Hash                            (Cracking tools, wordlists, rainbow tables, and more)
Physical security            (Break-ins, camras, survailence, locks, lockpicking, alarms, RFID, biometrics)

Current problems with the structure above:
It got no direct tool section, this is a downside when structuring this way. And a dedicated tools section is really nice if you want various tools at once. One does not have time to look in all the boards to finds 5 different tools!
Might be missing some aspects of hacking and security(awaiting comments)
if($statement) { unless(!$statement) { // Very sure } }

sounds fine.. who the fuck cares if people have to spend a little more time on finding the tools?
If they cant handle the looking then they are in the wrong fucking place

though it harder to find tools at least you can search for specif tools,
if you would all dump them together then if would be more confusing i think
Aslong as you are connected to the internet, you'll have no privacy

I like it! Although some of the sub forums listed may be spreading your topics too thin.

Looks cool, I would suggest that you merge the computer security and application security, since computer forensics and malware should be under application and computers just run software.
