mh.. not sure.. never had these problems. Are you using a proxy or something like that? No Scripts or any addons installed in your browser? Why don't you just open up a terminal, type sudo apt-get install xchat, open xchat, add the evilzone server and have fun with us :)

Yeah, use a client like Xchat or pidgin. I think pidgin is installed by default on Ubuntu?

You clicked the wrong button when asked if you wanted to allow the java applet to use "unsafe" functions. Kill java and visit the website again and you will be asked again. This is what java does in windows anyway. Cant say for sure if it does the same in ubuntu. If it does not I am guessing you have to change some java settings, but that could be potentially dangerous so rather not.

And what can we learn from this? Stay away from Java  :P

Well.... I mean that depends.  If your job requires you use Java all that time that's different..... ;-)
I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream has gone from me.  In its place now exists my own reality, a reality which I have created for myself by myself.

Nope, quit your job now and find one that doesn't involve Java in any way!
