No Place Like Home: The Latest Editon to my blog
« on: July 16, 2013, 11:15:35 pm »
(mylifethroughtheuseofakeyboard.blogspot.com)

A home, is where addiction roams,
where the tragic truth is that,
home is where she will never belong!

Home is where happiness is so falsely placed
It is where she is attacked by the demons she must face.

The scars on her wrist are where judgement is bound
by the love of parents she never found.
Social awkward she stands alone
she fits in no where not even home.

The other kids laugh and lower
She is hit with words falling from her cover
Her face never lets it show
She refuses to cry to be seen below
so she runs to her bottle inside
where she just lets her emotions hide.

Bottling up all the pain
letting her face show no stain
The satin skin of makeup and fake smiles
She covers her angst with complete denial.

Her father forgets her name
Knows nothing of her shame.
He refuses to even care to give her better
No calls, no worry, not even a letter
No birthday cards, no love at all
She doesn't want him to see her fall
She's scared he won't see her beauty
when there is none to see
In her eyes she's worthless and nothing
but to someone out there she is something.

Her mother leaves her out of the view
She forgets of her responsibility to be a mother
she just lets the addiction be above her.
She can never replace the years she let go
She stole the youth of the one she sent below.

No comfort, no relief
where her problems roam
No place like home.
She wants to click her heels together
Go to a place it's all better
No place like home
But she can't run away
For him she must stay.
No place like home.

but but hanorotu will kill me!

Anyway i was sincere in my first post, i really enjoy this poem. the only thing i could (to me) even maybe find a small fault on would be this:

Social(ly) awkward she stands alone
she fits in no where not even home.

to me it flows better with the ly

also:

Go to a place it's all better

i think either
Go to a place, it's all better
or
Go to a place where it's all better
size]Anyway i assure you im not trying to nit pick you, i truly enjoy this poem as it stands, and considering my horrid writing abilities i probably dont have any room to nitpick :P but you asked so i did ;) . Anyway if you choose to post more i would love to read it.

Opinion:
In my personal opinion, this is a decent poem.  It evokes personal memories, both painful & joyful.  To me, that's almost always a good thing.  I do, however, think that it could use some rewording for better 'flow' & depth.  I would consider it an insult to the author, however, to present a modification without permission as it differs from typical considerate criticism.

Analysis(brief):
It's explanatory and shows confusion, a trapped mindset and a deep desire to hide but simultaneously be known.  I get a sense of more than just the common 'teenage angst', a feeling of regret.  At the same time there's a slight sense of pride in an ability to contain & compose even in minor duress.  The hint of bitterness is apparent and the forthcoming "bitch, beware" looms on the horizon.

Showing through is some small hopefulness, a mainstay.  These appear, at the moment, to be thoughts merely repeated to oneself as a mantra to self-hypnotize with the belief that in the end, it's not all just pain or that at least the pain might be worth it.  This is promising & encouraged.

Suggested Corrections:
Social(ly) awkward she stands alone
she fits in no where not even home.

to me it flows better with the ly

I was initially thinking the same thing, though after re-reading I wonder if it's meant to indicate a person OF trait as opposed to a person WITH trait.  The difference; "she's socially awkward" vs "she's a social-awkward".  Ether way, I believe adding 'ly' may be the better approach but it certainly depends on the desired intention.

also:

Go to a place it's all better
i think either
Go to a place, it's all better
or
Go to a place where it's all better

Perhaps "Go to a place that's all better"?

I would also note that where it says "She forgets of her responsibility to be a mother", you may want to remove the word 'of'.  Further, I think it may be better as "She forgets her responsibility as a mother".  This is just my opinion, of course.

Suggested Tracks:
http://youtu.be/_Syphwc5Flc - Within Temptation : What Have You Done
http://youtu.be/EluzTj88tWU - Killswitch Engage : The Arms of Sorrow
http://youtu.be/4wcIEsf1ITA - AWOLNATION : Not Your Fault
http://youtu.be/ocDlOD1Hw9k - P!nk : F**kin' Perfect
http://youtu.be/4N3N1MlvVc4 - Gary Jules : Mad World

Each track is meant to evoke one or more emotions and lend to inspiration & creativity.

exactly xires! It was honestly hard for me to post those for the obvious reasons, they could have been intentional, i thought they might not have been though. so i provided  an alternative. I know how hard it can be for anyone to have their work reviewed in any way, even when asking for it.

@Darkvision; Indeed, you are absolutely corect; it can be difficult to have work reviewed, even when requested.  It can also be difficult to review the work; the last thing I would want to do is discourage the artist.

@Atreyu; Keep the works coming!  (BTW, awesome nick)

Thanks for the reviews I am not at all offended by anything you guys had to say. I don't really see it as criticism I find it words of encouragement and advice to better myself in doing what I do.
