Hello EZ,
About a half year ago I built a new machine as some of you might know.
One thing that I had on the agenda was to get some proper cooling paste for my CPU.
But at that time none of the stores had it in stock (the one I wanted) so my impatience got the better of me.
I had noctua NTH1 paste which isnt all that bad but since my machine runs roughly 1Ghz above stock I needed something better.
So I finally found a store that had the Artic Silver 5 paste.
I used be sceptical about paste etc , bla bla.
But im impressed this stuff knocked 5 degrees of my core!
I might have some room for extra clocking now, this is just fucking sweet.
Anyways if anyone is looking for a proper paste for whatever reason , this one does the job and it does it well.
http://www.arcticsilver.com/as5.htmBtw my CPU turbo is clocked at 4.5 Ghz atm (I7 3770k stock 3.5)
Might push it to 4.6/4.65 if my temps allow it.
Its pretty acceptable running little over 82 degrees C at full load.
On idle (ondemand) that is rougly 34/35.
These cores can operate under much higher temps.
In fact with the stock cooler those are low temps , those ivy's run hot enough to fry your eggs.
Ive seen reports of people running stock clocks and fans 92C and even hotter.
Probably just poor builts and airflow but still , running overclocked at lower temps than prebuilt makes me feel good
