A group of Indian Hackers has designed Artificial Intelligence Assistant Operating System called 'J.A.R.V.I.S' , who recognizes them, answer questions, tweet for them and Collect information, scan targets for them.

Chiragh Dewan, a 18 year old student who is currently pursuing his BCA has taken the initiative to be the first Indian to complete this project J.A.R.V.I.S , which is inspired by Iron Man’s (movie) artificial intelligence assistant Jarvis.
With his team of 7 including Himanshu Vaishnav, Mayur Singh, Krishanu Kashyap, Vikas Kumar, Vinmay Nair and Sravan Kumar, they are about to finish the 3rd level of the project.
Their long term goal is to create an OS which could adapt itself according to the user's needs. Like if a doctor is using the OS, it will adapt itself so as it is capable of helping him out in his field like searching for new techniques, medicines, help in their research, etc. Add for architects, other professions.

As for users in the IT Security field, it would help the users in information gathering, scanning, etc. Making an app for mobile by which you would be able to communicate with you're system remotely and give him tasks to do, ask questions, etc.

It all started with the release of Iron Man 3, after which Chiragh was determined to make Jarvis. Having no experience in Artificial Intelligence, he came home and started learning AI through online courses. The research work had started during which he came across a post by Himanshu stating that he too has been working on this project and would like people fro join him. After a detailed conversation and exchange of ideas, the project had started. During their course of development more people joined the project.
Project Task Completed: In the current version of Jarvis v1.0, it is capable of:
Answering questions asked by the administrator
Compile reports on any topic asked by the user.
Control lights by voice.
Basic interaction with the user.
Handling Facebook, Email and Social profiles of users
Using Twitter Account with voice control
Basic OS kernel is ready.
Can Scan targets for Hackers
Gathering Basic information about the target
All the above functionalities are completely controlled by voice. It has only been four months since they have started this project and have achieved a lot in this short period of time.

The team will announce the OS publicly soon after completion of phase 3, but for now Chiragh proudly shows off his creation on the J.A.R.V.I.S project website.

Juicy and eye watering if i was a skiddie. No offence cos i was doing just fine with the Debian and win& install but this is too good to be true. Its just ........

making small decisions on it's own, allowing it to learn and store information about it's user.
I don't think so. Store information about me? No NO No way. I make the decisions and nothing ,if i can help it, touches the disk. Ever heard of data contraception? Nothing touches the disk so as i don't bother with removing it or hiding it. But the AI depend on that data.

Am gonna pass for now.

If you can't explain it to a 6 year old, you don't understand it yourself.

too bad that it's gonna have some pretty big copyright issues down the line, if it ever gets popular. other than that - I dislike the look of that image. as long as the gui interface is highly customisable, it's not too much of a problem, but otherwise... *shudders*

overall, i'm not exactly euphoric about this creation. It is definitely a fantastic project for those involved, but I am doubtful about it. maybe later on in it's development, it might change my mind, but for now, i'll pass.

one exception though - remote access to your computer from anywhere, with an AI that can collate information for you, run tasks whilst you are out, etc? that is a very, very interesting idea.

I second what Kenjoe41 says, its another step to categorize computer users and nothing should store and sniff information about him/herself or about habbits/likes/preferences, not to mention voice and areas of internet accessed.

On the second hand, if it was to be used only for the work/project based stuff excluding any daily and recreational usage, this could be pretty cool and save a lot of effort, but then again I'm not so keen of that, since it would automatically pass you the information... nothing stops the OS to act as a disinformation if it was to be used for important or confidential reasons.

Very interesting project to be honest. I'm not very partial to the flashiness of the GUI, but I can get that they are trying to stick to a theme.

What's very interesting here though is the machine learning. If indeed they will manage to create an OS that adapts depending on the skillset/job(s) of the user, and which can also take a very wide variety of voice commands which it then interprets in order to launch applications or change configs, then when this project is finalized it will be EFFING awesome if you ask me.

I would immediately pop this on a lightweight desktop and put it in charge of automating my whole house initially, eventually upgrading it to the point that it can access/control/modify/configure any device/machine/tool that is present in the house, whether it's the garage door, my desktop or a hypothetical CCTV system.

Wow! What an great idea.
It's like the wargames computers but much better, (and realistic).

I look forward to the proper release, although I don't see how I could use it, except from ssh.

I had a project like this in the works but it was a program instead of an OS. Cool stuff none the less.
