So I have a small dilemma. I really don't like or support Apple technology. I also am not a huge fan of smartphones and how they keep people from looking up at their surroundings for a second.

So, recently my mother emailed me asking me if I needed a phone. All she said was a phone, not a smartphone. I assumed she just meant and old phone of hers and maybe a cheap plan, so I agreed. Today the package comes in and it's an iPhone 5. Now, I'm not an ungrateful piece of shit. I'm really not. But I never wanted a smartphone and if I were to get a smartphone I definitely wouldn't want an iPhone 5. Plus, my mom is poor I have no idea how she is affording this.

So now I have this Apple technology that I have no choice but to use. I guess it's not really a dilemma, but I just figured I'd see what you guys have to say.

Your mother bought you it so use it or sell it off and use the money on your mother.

That would probably hurt her feelings and I don't want to do that.

EDIT: I get the feeling you are all going to think I'm selfish and spoiled now. I'm not. I called my mom and thanked her and I intend to use the device. I just wouldn't have picked an Apple device. I don't even know what to do with it. I guess I can jailbreak it or something.

Meh, I would be very happy to get an iphone as a gift but would never spend any mony to buy their over priced shit.
I suggest you use it. I mean its not totally useles and if you don't she will feel bad.
Also, about how she afforded it: she was probably saving money to give you this sort of gift. She did ask you if you needed a phone didn't she?

Be happy man :) It's a great device, despite what other people might state. but I get what you mean, if your mom doesn't have as much money it's a BIG thing she has done here. I would use it and enjoy it.

I agree with what other say. Keep it and use it. I would use it myself if that would happen to me, though I would never buy an iPhone. But if you get as a present? hell why not...

I'd just use it as a regular phone until I would demand more from it. Then I would probably jail break it...
And put some masking tape overt he apple logo, paint it in some other color. That way people won't recognize your IQ level lol. Just have phun!
