Replacing GPU in laptop
« on: September 24, 2013, 08:05:20 pm »
Is it possible to do it? because most of what I have found online is concerning desktops and DIY.  Also, when replacing the gpu, do I have to find something that's compatible with the speed of my cpu, my cpu is intel i7 (2GHz)? or anything can fit in. I'm no expert is this kind of stuff. Therefore, some guidance is needed.

My laptop is Asus N53S. intel i7 (2GHz). 8GB RAM.

uhm

For any laptop that came with an integrated graphics card, it is a pretty simple one step procedure.
1. You can't

Only select high end laptops have swapable graphics cards but they all came with a discrete high end graphics card. Some laptops with midranged cards actually have the GPU mounted to the mainboard so it isn't swapable, and all integrated graphics card either mounted in the chipset on the motherboard or built into the CPU.

I too am not an expert, but how come I was able to find whole bunch of stuff? :P

Thank you for the help. Actually I was too lazy to use Google. So sad that I can't do it, mankind reached the outer ends of the solar system. Yet, they can not design a notebook with a swappable graphics card.

On the other hand, the only reason I wanted to explore this possibility, is to be able to deploy in password cracking. My graphics card is Nvidia Geforce GT 550m (2GB). +cookie on the house amigo  ;D
