A man and woman in China were in court onFriday, defending allegations they sold their babygirl to go on a shopping spree that included thepurchase of an iPhone and top-of-the-linefootwear.The Telegraph reported that the couple, knownonly as Mr. Teng and Ms. Zhang, admitted thebaby was given to another family — but theyclaim it was given away not for money.“We did not give the baby away for money butin order to give it more security” with a familythat could provide an education, they said, TheTelegraph reported.The woman gave birth at home, and shortly afterbegan to post an online advertisement forsomeone to take her daughter.
