Newegg alternatives

Obviously tons of you use Newegg, but there must be other respectable websites to buy hardware and devices off of. I'm looking for a new netbook for my girlfriend. Tops 400usd but preferably around 200 or 300usd. Newegg doesn't really seem to have as many options as I would like and I think having more then one site to refer to would be a good idea.

Oh by the way, can I get some feedback on Dells? I'm actually leaning towards Lenovo because I've heard great things about their hardware, but I'm seeing a lot of good deals on Dell PCs too so I just want to know.

I've always been an HP person myself. Dell meh, just don't go Asus or Acer, always nothing but bad things so far from them.

As for an alt newegg, idk. It's either Amazon, Ebay, or NewEgg from them kninda things. Hell, if its not Amazon, I'm usually on Sparkfun or Adafruit or DigiKey.

Recently I've been surprised with the prices on Amazon (.com). I'm getting new SSD and RAM this week and so far it seems they have the best prices by far even if I'm not from the US.

I've seen some good stuff on Amazon as well. Not great for building a PC though because you don't get to see all the specs like you do on Newegg.. I'm actually going to be 'assembling' a PC soon. Not actually going to buy it for probably 25 years when I've finally got enough spare money that doesn't need to go to something necessary like rent or food.... or beer. Regardless, I'm still going to select all the parts necessary to build it, and then stare at them for those 25 years I mentioned. It's fun to fantasize.

@techb - Yeah, I've learned the hard way not to buy any products starting with the letter A.  My girlfriend has an Acer Aspire One, and I've got an Asus. I'm not at all a fan of Asus laptop hardware, that's for damn sure. I've seen some decent Asus MoBos though.

Really? I've never had any problems from my Asus. Love the damn thing. Lenovo is pretty good. I like tigerdirect.com for a lot of stuff, but Amazon has been getting better.

If I ever buy another laptop I'm going lenovo. Sure their specs are a little lower then other laptops on average but I hear great things about their hardware, and that is very very important to me.

I have an Asus and so do my parents and both have been great. Mine is an Eee Pc, my parent's is a full size laptop, I don't remember what model. I have run several versions of linux on mine because the bullshit Windows 7 neutered version that came with it was lame and still ran slow on it.

Guess that won't help you much but I basically always go to either this store: http://www.alternate.de/html/index.html or this: http://www.mindfactory.de/ lol. I am like techb a HP minded guy when it comes to server, switches, storage, tape libraries and all the stuff one needs to provide a good infrastructure. At work we have those HP Probooks and they are pretty good. No plastic case and all that but they are expensive as well. My private laptops are all lenovo. I have a T400 and 2x X200. They are pretty robust and I never had any troubles with them. As for the ASUS arguments. I have and will always use ASUS mainboards in my private pcs. None of my ASUS boards died or made me any problems. Running on a Sabertooth X79 for a year now and I really love it

got a ton of stuff to do before i leave town so very briefly: NEVER buy dell, well really never buy anything you dont build yourself, but if your in a bind or need a laptop very few companys are even close to reputable....of them i would say lenovo/IBM is the best. I really need to finish up my guide....maybe sometime after the new year (or if im lucky before). Anyway i have a ton of reasons for what im saying, just not really the time atm to put it all down. regardless avoid dell like the plague they are.
