Wait, do you need a new language for a new OS?
If you can't explain it to a 6 year old, you don't understand it yourself.

May be they try to develop something voice based like Jarvis in Iron Man ;D

Staff -- Seriously, stop with that shit. It's completely random, hard to read, ugly, and absolutely uneccesary and useless. From now one I'm just going to start deleting posts.

they figured out they reached the end of the line on their ability to fuck up an OS with win 8, decided they needed a new programming language to give them the tools to REALLY bollox the job up.

I read about this sometime ago and it isn't a new language rather a modified C# language, I'm sure.

It seems like this language is intended to be used for cloud computing applications. I'm not quite sure what to think about it.

Possibly a sad try to compete with ChromeOS? Just a thought.

A language to compete with an operating system?

Apologies for not paying close of enough attention to your post before posting myself. I was referring to the fact that they are possibly using it to design a new OS. In light of the recent jump to push cloud computing I can see the motivation behind the idea.

I know the Xbox one will be pushing cloud gaming a lot through out this year in order to compete with Sony's claims about having a better suited console to do so.

I don't think Microsoft will be using it to create a new OS. It would seem unlikely  they would do that, after they have used so many money on advertising Windows 8. I read somewhere that Windows 9 was to expect in 2015, but I don't have any clue what that version is going to include. My best guess would be, that they will use it to create cloud based applications for some of their services such as Skydrive etc.

Why the hell is everything being put "in the cloud"? normal hard drives no longer sufficient? sounds like bullshit, tbh. Fucking clouds...
