A man named Jose ivan from mexico traveled 8k miles, 16months after his shipwrecked in middle of pacific ocean found by an norwaign researcher. He kept himself alive by drinking birds and turtles blood and eating fish, turtles and birds by hunting them with his bare hands.

It takes quite a strong mentality to stay fighting such place. Also kind of lucky that he didn't catch any storms, serious shark attacks, illness etc.

I say motivation, courage and something strong to look up to is enough to wrestle a shark to the bottom of the ocean just to live long enough to see that something you look up to.
