You have to give us some more information. I can't imagine that you have to do a project, without even the slightest speech or requirements from your teacher.

Infact, that is the case, they just need some major project and our university and teachers doesn't care what it is.

The project can be a website in html and php,or a java desktop app,or and android app etc.
iv'e decided to do a project on java because i've been learning java for the past month. So now you know.So far cloud computing got my eye but i am confused.

How about choosing an existing project from our repository and improve it :)

Java wouldn't be the best in this field but hey, it wouldn't kill you to bring out the beauty of Java in AI and robotic. @Zesh was working on one in C++ (http://evilzone.org/projects-and-discussion/project-ace/) so be your guest and look at it.

For project ideas, you have been doing whatever course you are doing but in reality there might be a field of interest to you. Be it networking, AI, cryptography, et-la. From that field am sure there might be a challenge, and impossibility you have always wondered about. It might not be your Ph.D yet but a minimal version of you wonders would be just enough.

You have alot of field you can get an idea unlike for us who wait to get a challenge then solve it by coding.

Quote from: Leonard Kleinrock
As a PhD student at MIT in 1959, I looked around and found that most of my classmates
were doing research in the area of information theory and coding theory. At MIT, there was
the great researcher, Claude Shannon, who had launched these fields and had solved most of
the important problems already. The research problems that were left were hard and of lesser consequence. So I decided to launch out in a new area that no one else had yet conceived
of. Remember that at MIT I was surrounded by lots of computers, and it was clear to me
that soon these machines would need to communicate with each other. At the time, there
was no effective way for them to do so, so I decided to develop the technology that would
permit efficient and reliable data networks to be created.

......................

The Internet and all that it enables is a vast new frontier, full of amazing challenges. There
is room for great innovation. Don’t be constrained by today’s technology. Reach out and
imagine what could be and then make it happen.
If you can't explain it to a 6 year old, you don't understand it yourself.

You should atleast tell us how big/small the project should be. Judging from how long you've been learning java, I would assume the project should be simple and mostly for learning purposes.

So here you go:
http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/topic/78802-martyr2s-mega-project-ideas-list/

These are not language specific but are simple and for learning purposes.

Thats a good idea and messing with existing projects will minimize my work to an extent.and can you give me some links to projects. That would be really helpful.

Anything you have always been thinking about creating? Anything you find interesting?

Im thinking more like doing project on cloud computing containing memory allocation of virtual resources, online video recommendation, secure data maintaining, etc.

But im not sure how diverse this would be and how to start with it.there are other options like mobile based attendence system and other types of web based managemant systems.

And the final project should be big enough to secure marks out of 300.That marks would reflect on my final degree percentage.

EDIT:
I find mobile tracking really interesting.I guess it would be based upon j2me and php.Any ideas on that???

Staff note: Please dont double post
