Rooting your phone, why and how.
« on: July 10, 2011, 05:14:57 am »
Before getting into the topic of said rooting, I think we should look at why you should. This said, the reason changes from device to device. Some are faster than others. The most improvement comes from a cheap phone. When rooting your phone you can install mods like Cyanogen.
With this mod you can have a better keyboard, faster phone and apps/widgets from other phone builds.
Know to the how part.
Download the application zroot. Install it to your phone and reboot it. You have succesfully rooted your phone.

So, can you root HTC Wildfire with Android 2.2.1 with zroot? because I read that it is currently not really possible with Unrevoked.

You don't really need it. Rooting your phone like I said before is for phones that have a poor preformance rate.

No, rooting is for users that want more out of their phones :|
Android IS linux, after all, and there isn't much to do for an advanced user without root.
So I ask again, can you or can you not root HTC Wildfire with Android 2.2.1 with zroot?

You can root 2.1 but not 2.2. The exploit was patched.

2.2 is patched, but you can go back to an older version of 2.2 and still root

[OT]Guys I saw someone before saying that android is linux.Well as true as this may be Google violated the Terms of Use (GNU I believe) or something like that because they did not put the source for their latest update (Gingerbread) online .So even if they put online the source code right now they are still in a whole lot of trouble![/OT]
Sorry for that off topic. BTW rooting is not only for cheap Android phones , 'cause you can't upload ROMs without having rooted your phone.
PS:Not that it's relevant but, I don't have an Android phone!
If it moves shoot it,if it runs... hack it!

as said above android is partly unix, so most of the things are same here.
(You guys know this)Root user is the account which has got all capabilities.(its the administrator account in linux). so once you become the root user on android you get all the rights. You can exploit all the resources of the device.
After rooting you can do all modding, patching stuffs !
