Coding by voice?
« on: April 18, 2014, 08:56:43 pm »
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SkdfdXWYaI

I watched this Youtube video and it made me wonder if this is a better, more efficient alternative than coding by hand. I think it would be a good idea if there was no one around you to hear you making those strange noises.  :)

Has anyone tried this? Personally I would rather use a keyboard.

LOL, if that's what he prefers to code like. Yeah I'd stick to the old-school coding by keyboard... coding by voice is ridiculous, imagine doing that shit working in a team, or in some hackerspace or something lol. And what about accents? that mostly applies to those who have a flawless english accent...

"slap, yank, some text here, quote, slap, yank, slap, run command".

I suppose it's great for an armless guy, but naturally that shit's cray :D

Lmao  ;D  Yeah that is pretty ridiculous. Dragonspeak never really worked for me and I have a pretty good English accent I believe.

This isn't something you can just try. It needs a lot of initial effort.
The video was a good watch. Thanks for this.

Btw, I stumbled upon a video that shows someone trying to use Vista Speech Recognition to code in Perl:

That was probably the best 10 minutes I've wasted today lol. Speech Recognition programming truly is the future...

LOL, that was the fucking funniest thing I've seen all week. I actually watched that entire thing. I love after all of that: "Save as, thatwaseasy.txt"

Vista is so great xD
