Just to point it out, stable isn't always the best way to go. My main reason to switch from debian to archliux was that the software in the repos was way out of date (and it was too boated for my taste).
Stable distros almost always have old versions of software in their repos, as these have been tested thoroughly, and pretty much every bug got fixed. This means, that the software is often missing new features wich you may need/want.
And bleeding edge software like in the archlinux repo doesn't break as often as most people think. Only had problems 3 or 4 times yet (these were serious though).
