Kali Linux Pastimes?
« on: June 14, 2014, 10:59:36 pm »
Hello!
Not too sure where to post this so I am going to post it here! (if you know of another place where this would be more appropriately placed please let me know)

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows of things I could try in Kali Linux.  I have done one on hacking wifi networks here: https://evilzone.org/tutorials/hacking-wireless-networks/
So anything similar would be appreciated, or even hacking that is of a similar process.  once again, any input is greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Your doing it the wrong way around.
Backtrack or kalilinux or whatever it is called these days is a bit of a sad affair.
Its like; oke I installed it ... Now which button do I press.
Forget that shit, learn some linux some networking and some coding, review your own question in 6 months.

That ^ is the way to go. Since you go dirty in wifi hacking, i am sure that tut wasn't all. Go deeper in the different ways to exploit it. In the process you will learn networking, programming since you will find yourself needing or tweaking custom scripts for you adventures.

Get creative and develop a passion.
If you can't explain it to a 6 year old, you don't understand it yourself.

Thank you guys very much for the input (and not being pricks).  I am sorry I even asked the question now, but we all have to learn somehow.  I am learning some coding and trying to learn other things but I am finding it especially hard finding where to start.  All the tutorials I look at seem to start somewhere I am unaware of.  I guess that just means I need to learn more coding.  Any suggestions? I'd really like to start DOING something, like learning proper coding; as long as I'm not wasting my time.
Thank you for the comments so far, they've helped a lot.

Well sure, depends a bit on the level you are at but something that is fun and relatively easy is a socket listening for incoming request and have it print out the source address or something like that.
It might give you a bit of a taste of network programming.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7749341/very-basic-python-client-socket-example

To link it to security you could have a netcat instance connect to it and send commands to a shell for example.
This should keep you busy for a while , learn and have a good time.
Why am I so awfully friendly today.
