Probably leaving the "hacker scene" for good

I know the newer members don't know me, and even though I was never really on IRC I know that some of the more important people around here know who I am.

But it's not like I'm leaving this community, I'll still browse and occasionally post useless stuff, as per norm. Last year at this time, I was really pushing myself to learn everything I can about hacking and actually contribute something to the community; I really wanted to earn myself VIP status. Although, I pretty much have mastered computer hardware and I can typically set up a pretty strong network.. I guess, hacking just isn't for me. It was and still is a great interest of mine, and I'll never stop learning everything I can, but for some very important reasons, I'm returning to my pursuit of musical interests.

So again, I'm not officially leaving EZ, but I hope you guys will still accept my input here and there, whether it's related to hacking or in just the "vices/random" boards (but don't think I won't post about hacking). You guys really are awesome, and I don't know what I'd have done if I didn't find this website ~5 years ago.

When I used to skateboard, I would always "quit" skating. Then later I'd start up again. After awhile I realized, there's really no reason to declare that you've quit doing something. It's sort of self defeating. Why don't you just do what you want? If you'd rather spend more time on music then do it, and if you feel like hacking then you can. The act of declaring that you've quit tends to unnecessarily prevent you from being able to go back to it from time to time.

Just do what feels right at the time. You don't have to "quit" anything.

I go with lucid on this one. You don't have to declare that you quit something - just go ahead and do what you like.

I move in and out things all the time.
Certain things I considered lost for years I rediscovered only recently.
I suprised myself by realizing that I still 'got it'
Due to many of life's twists I dropped certain fields which I found deep passion and satisfaction in, the more time went by the harder it became to go back due to the connections with certain events.
Instead of taking the hit I found that I could still do those things and reinvented myself in a way.
One never looses touch with true passions, perhaps switch order.

Music is something that , at least for me, connects to the soul in way that only artistic expressions can.
Hacking is something analytical but there is space for creativity in much the same way as there is in music/art.

Hacking ain't easy been wrapping my head with this stuff up to date with little to success but ain't backing off that easy neither should you, good luck on your music career!

Do what you want, you don't have to quit anything. You find many interest throughout your life, don't give up learning. That would be bad, I hope you work with Servers and not Desktops that way you can at least make some good income.

Good words indeed gentlemen. There's no reason to quit anything entirely. I used to think that it was VERY important to excel at whatever I did(and still do within reason), and there's nothing wrong with that. Problem was I liked to do a lot of things, and there's just not enough time in the average human lifespan to do everything and become as proficient as I would like. So I made a list of things that were important to me and I strive for them every day. In short, you control your destiny; not your idealism.

It's all about prioritizing. Sometimes one thing sounds better than the other so do what you feel, but always keep what you want in perspective. What you are thinking now is a reflection of a possible future for yourself. You create your own reality and nobody/nothing external does this for you.
