Legal Problem
« on: August 02, 2014, 08:25:47 am »
I am a newbie, long time lerker first time poster. Hopefully, I have posted in the right area.

Basically the law is accusing me of posting something on the internet as they have my ip address, but I didn't post it.

Basically, is it possible for someone to:

a) Hack/crack into a wireless WEP/WPS network?
b) post something on the internet by spoofing an ip address (as they dont need anyone to respond)?
c) scan wireless connections and find ip addresses? Which could lead to doing b above.
d) can a virus or other malicious programs be used so that my connection could be used as a proxy

If the answer is yes to any of the above, how do I go about proving that it can be done?

By reading a book about TCP/IP and 802.11?
TCP Illustrated is great to start with.

a) it's likely. Change you passphrase, use better security.
b) not possible
c) see b)
d) yes they can, and it doesn't have to be a virus (check 3proxy), however a more advanced trojan/bot has such capabilities.

Why don't you go ahead and ask to see the content that was posted as they claim?
