How to download a video hidden behind javascrpit?
« on: August 22, 2014, 09:05:34 pm »
Hello, I'm new here so I don't know if it is okay to ask this kind of question here. If it's not, I'm sorry.

I would like to be able to download a video that is shown in a javascript popup. I've tried all the downloader software out there and no one seem to detect it. The URL of the video is like this:

http://www.ANYURL.com/liveshowpopup?scr=48.81.225&video_ref=1a2b3cxz9973a933289e9a2105586acd6f373a27b1a68bb3&a=2&u=1021393&2h2=9jbq203#

I'm no expert in IT so I was looking for something easy, but maybe it does no exist. What I do know is that the video is not detected by any software because(?) the URL does not include any video format. This is not livestream.

Then post the sourcecode of the page, for fuck sake. We are no wizards - or some of us at least not.

Are you trying to bypass the password needed to access the video or are you just trying to download the video?

If your just trying to capture the video, i would suggest using a 30-day trial of camtasia  or if your using linux you can use kazam or recordmydeskop and just screen record it - then crop and export to avi.

Btw- clicking on your link does not bring up anything.

I'm not trying to bypass the password, I am a registered user. I was just trying to download the video.

I tried recording the screen with quictime but quality is not perfect, maybe my macbook is too old and I tough that maybe there was a way to download it so I can still work.

Firefox addon DownloadHelper usually detects any kind of media and allows you to download it.
If not then you'll need to fire up Firebug and start debugging.

I have had some luck with jacksta - its also for mac.

If your on a mac, you should dual-boot mac/linux or mac/windows useing refit or refind -
if your not into that then at least install some sort of visualization software; vmware fusion / virtualbox - and install an alternative os.

Quicktime is slow. Get some better screencasting software:

I tried downloadhelper and it didn't work. I tried debugging and found another url that leads to cloudfront.net and brings me to the following picture. Anyway I didn't know there was a to hide a video that really works.

Thanks all I will try Voila.

Just fire up wireshark :)
It will have to come from somewhere, the true link should be somewhere in the packets, these are often generated on-the-fly.

Thanks for the tip, I installed it and I'm trying to understand how it works.
