Car Computer ran on RaspberryPi
« on: October 15, 2014, 03:51:34 pm »
In my 2005 KIA Amanti, It has an infiniti stereo system. In the dash it has a screen the size of about a iphone 5 on its side. I want to find a LCD Monitor that small, or something that could work to that extent. Wire it to the pi, so I can have an in-dash Computer. Keyboard would be Wireless and mounted to the dash also. Just a thought.

Running debian or whatever the hel i feel like, with a gsm uplink

and for a keyboard, I was gona build it into one of the pillars a laser keyboard lol.

Well I want to replace stereo with a touchscreen. But this screen that runs off the current stereo is away from the stereo itself. It is why I am considering computer being put in to replace the blank screen when I input a new stereo.

Why not just consider buying an in-car computer like the police have, except with satellite uplinks and a center console keyboard (possibly folded out?).
