Saw this link pop into my feed a few minutes ago, thought it was highly interesting:
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/who-does-your-email-belong-to/article/2557609Everyones hated cash grabbing company is in a court case against the US gov, arguing that data they hold off shore are outside the FBI's jurisdiction. Gov is arguing that american sent the data, and is stored by an american company and being accessible by that company falls under some Stored Communications Act regardless of the servers physical location.
Thought it was surprising cause it runs contrary to how we tend to believe most companies deal with privacy. On the other hand, had to remind myself that this is the same company that has been under fire multiple times by antitrust laws, any chance they can get feds to GTFO their business is good for them, more so if they can pull in some good PR.
any thoughts or additional info?
