Back in grade 10, I've been working on a robot with some friends. It worked, but wasn't very reliable, since it was build from metal parts that were getting loosened because of the vibrations and were constantly collecting dust etc. The electronics were a small ATMEL controller, some transistors, and a chip with an USB-Port that we used to make programs in Arduino-C run on the system. Afterwards we added a small ultrasonic sensor. The whole project got abandoned after some time because of a low budget and hardware issues deriving from it.
