Looking for good music/melodies (No vocals - instrumentals only)
« on: February 22, 2015, 04:16:35 pm »
I am looking for some beautiful, intense instrumentals that give you chills running down your spine. Here are a few i would suggest you all to listen atleast once.

Symphony 9
https://soundcloud.com/classicalmuzic-net/beethoven-ode-to-joy-1

Beethoven's 5 secrets  (the piano guys version)

https://soundcloud.com/yukiten/beethoven-s-5-secrets-one-republic-cello-orchestral-version

Izthak Perlman's violin music (The one that's the theme of Schindler's list(A must watch movie)
I couldn't find a stream for it but yah the first one from this link

http://stafaband.info/download/mp3/lagu_schindlers_list_soundtrack_theme_from_schindler/
(This is a must listen. Beautifully saddening)

and this
symphony 7, gives you a weird empty feeling

https://soundcloud.com/zikrawahyudi/beethoven-0-bethoven-7th

I am looking for more. Even though being an amateur guitarist(love playing music, just that beginner guitars are cheaper than a decent piano) , I am not really looking for some guitar instrumentals. Violin/Piano/Bagpipe music is what I am looking for.

Vocals are too distracting and rarely good. Any contribution to my instrumental collection pool will be highly appreciated.

I've been exploring chiptunes, lately. Here is 12 hours of chiptunes of varied quality (but that's subjective; just skip the ones you dislike, I guess) -->
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH7eUlri4yM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlNiEFEVta4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nJKyfVK11A

Out of these, two artists I can currently remember that really stood out were Jeroen Tel and Xerxes.
I haven't listened to JT's tracks yet, and I'm on my way with Xerxes so far: http://xerxes-music.com/
Too lazy to cp track links, but here are some titles:

(All made by Xerxes)
My favourite kind of Silence -- Music for Chips -- Corque Screw -- Simple Math -- Fall -- Off the Blocks -- Moonrider -- Into the Nothing -- Bent out of Shape -- X-Flies -- Panic -- The Inlands

In short: Screw everything else and explore Xerxes.

I highly doubt if the chiptunes are anything fit for listening. No offense, but they are like those annoying tunes in Hentai and Keygens with no mute button that require you muting your computer.
Tried simple math, not really looking into it. Perhaps, something soothing and less amateur?

It all depends on what music attracts you. I will try with ambiental dark music (since I prefer gothic type of music more).

Let's start with Midnight Syndicate - Darkness Descends

Did you listen one of Edinburg Tatoo? My favorite military bagpipe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49Ag2bjgUIw&list=RDk_iBe4swTi8&index=4) must see in live before you die, something amazing.

If you prefer something else as modern sound of old songs my faverites are "Two cellos" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk5zxA9UP2Q

Here are the few you should try:

Antonin Dvorak - New World Symphony 4th movement (very powerful)

Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother (kubrick wanted to use this one for clockwerk orange but the assholes refused, bet the alive ones are sorry now)

Listen to this you definitely won't regret if you're even a bit fan of rock music.

I don't know if you ever tried ex-Yugoslavian music but we had some really good rock bands back in 60s , 70s, and 80s.

If you are looking for music for concentration, try giving game music a try. I have been a big fan of it and it helps my to stay focused while programming. I really like the Skyrim soundtrack (even thought some of the songs have vocals) and stuff like pokemon. You might not regret giving it a try.

Enya's instrumental tracks are always a good thing. This is my favourite of them all:
