Can you trace an email address
« on: February 23, 2015, 11:06:16 am »
Hi everyone.

I joined this forum for one reason only, to recruit someone with the skills to trace an email address. I will pay upfront for the right candidate. I hope this request does not break forum rules.

The only info I have is the email address. I have no other info I'm afraid. I have tried all the 'beginners' methods - search engines, social media, Intelius - all have come back blank.

If you think you can help please PM me. If this post breaches forum rules, please remove it but I would be grateful if someone could explain the correct way to recruit someone from this community.

Thank you for any help you guys can give.

That is not the way to ask questions, and those are not the questions that should be asked without proper research. Anyway, the answer is 'sorta'.
Write a PHP script that grabs the IP address of visitor. If you have their * email address, then all you have to do is social engineer them in clicking the URL and you have their IP address.
The next step is getting the physical address of the node/device from the IP (I'm unsure about this, and I hope anybody having experience with networking will answer this)

Usually it should be enough to check the email headers. The Received and X-Received headers show the path the email went, the UserAgent header, if available, shows the used client and often the operating system.
