AIDE IDE - Android on-device IDE
« on: April 24, 2015, 01:57:36 am »
I found this app available through Google Play where you can develop your own apps on an Android device.

http://www.android-ide.com/

It includes lessons for Java programming and Android development.

Never used it, but I'd imagine it'd be painful to work with it :D well, on tablets maybe it would be ok for quick mockups, but not on the phone...

You have to pay a subscription to use it effectively.  You can't even save a file without paying. Plus it uses notifications to push you to buy its shit.

Coding apps on a mobile screen?? Way too painful...
I remember once a friend of mine asked me to code Netbeans for mobile. I was like how idiot people can be but then I asked -  can you really use that on mobile? -_-

I wouldn't use it without a tablet and keyboard.

I have a few programming apps.  The only time they're useful is when there's no internet or the connection is way too slow.  Android programming is only viable with a text editor using SFTP and an SSH connection to a VPS to run everything.  At that point it feels like a Chromebook for programming.
