Gmail allows alias addresses by placing a period anywhere in the name portion of the address and by extending the address with a plus sign. For example, I could use this address: sh4d0w.w4tch+newsletters@gmail.com.
A lot of websites require your email address as a password because it is more private than a username that everyone can see. Still, someone could find out your email address or you might make it relatively public. If someone has your email address they might be able to try resetting your password. You can keep the exact email address registered with each account private by using a different alias on every account. It should be like a second password, not too short and not easy to guess. Make sure you hold on to any registration emails so you can look up your email alias address if you forget it and need to reset your password.
