How can I Decode Message in Google Talk ?
« on: May 13, 2015, 04:43:21 pm »
Hello experts.
I use Pidgin with OTR for securing chat. when I start talking with a buddy, The pidgin automatically generate a PGP key for encrypt messages but when I close Pidgin Window and my friend reply me, The message save in hangout as Encrypted and showed me as "?OTR:dfdsfsfgg....", How can I decode it and understand my friend answer?

Thank you.

I guess you've got 3 options

1. Re-open the plugin and let it decrypt the message for you, just like the whole thing is actually intended to work (<< most obvious + least senseless)
2. Find out where pidgin saves the keys (maybe ~/.cache/pidgin or ~/.pidgin/*, but not sure), and then decrypt the msg on your own. But in fact I doubt that pidgin stores them in plaintext
3. Find the public key of your closed session and use it to crack the private one. Good look with that

I'd suggest 1)
