am working on a GUI project so am using threads to execute some functions such as stop,save,open via use of buttons.I can easily create threads but the problem comes when i have to stop,resume,kill. most of this functions in java have depreciated so working with them is no use.
As an example say i wanted to save data.I will create the function save in the overriden method run.So when a person clicks on save the thread is created and data is saved.But if i click on save again i get an Exception as below.

This is an error due to try to create the same thread again.So how cani resume an action or better destroy a thead then re-create it etc.Thread.stop(),Thread.resume() have depreciated an are labelled unsafe.
how would i handle button events while creating threads to actions.I would really appreciate code examples
