Looking for 5.8 GHz 802.11n Pen Testin Dongle
« on: June 14, 2015, 07:04:29 am »
Does anyone know of a USB adapter that can Pen Test in the 5.8 GHz range and is 802.11ac compatible?

I have bought and used the Alfa AWUS051NH USB adapter which is a dual band dongle but only works up to 802.11n and not the new 802.11ac.

Basically I am looking for a wireless chipset that can work with tools such as aircrack-ng but in the 5.8 GHz range with 802.11ac.

Thanks

I dont have a specific model for you but I suggest you look into Atheros.
The linux driver ath9 is pretty cool since it supports injection outofthebox for most models.

Thanks for the link but that adapter doesn't support the new 802.11ac. I have the Alfa AWUS051NH which is a 2.4 and 5.8 GHz dongle and works good with Kali and aircrack-ng but only supports 802.11agn.

Been looking for a while for a chipset that can handle 802.11ac and Pen Testing. Guess I'll keep looking seems like there would have to be one unless aircrack-ng and other tools haven't been coded to handle it yet.
