Is Alfa AWUS036NHA + Yagi 25dbi a good choice?
« on: June 15, 2015, 09:49:31 pm »
Hey guys!

I have an Alfa AWUS036NHA Atheros AR9271, and I'm about to buy a Yagi 25dbi directional Antenna, with the purpose of increase the network detection of my Alfa card. The Alfa card is very stable and I am wondering if the Yagi 25dbi could interfere my Alfa's stability, or even if that could burn it. I am asking this because there was an article where was told that if the Gain is too high, this creates high interference. In the other hand the increase of the Alfa's range works just for Internet sharing or affects the package injection too?

Thanks in advance.

I see that ur Alfa has 5dBi 2.4GHz Antenna at 800mW , 5v from USB 2.0 and u try to use yagi 25dbi is 5 time more powerfull that alfa antena. U will force ur card to work at full capacity and ofcourse, in my opinion i think u will break it in time.Any device with better reception consumes more power and ur USB port will not provide the right power. But if u can aford it u should try it, thats what i do.

If you don't know what the fuck you're talking about please don't give advice...

OP, it's late, so I won't explain the fail in the thinking that gain = gonna burn your card out or something, but yes you can run a well made 25 dBi yagi connected to that alfa with 0 issues. In fact if you google it people have run far higher gain yagis off of those little alfas

The cards suck oke.
Nothing stable comes from the card nor the driver they both suck, its just hipster stuff that is good at injection and thats about it.
Windows nor linux ever got me a solid connection and I owned 2 of them, different  antenna etc.

https://forum.aircrack-ng.org/index.php?topic=604.0  a short google search and maybe some one could tell me why we cant put a hsatelite dish on a alfa card.On that link u see tests on a 2000mW antena and 2500mW one, not 800mW.So u need power.

According to the seller that is a 2w card: http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.co/MCO-415787927-adaptador-usb-alfa-network-awus036nha-2w-80211-bgn-_JM#redirectedFromParent

Ok, I I'll keep it in mind.

But whatever the case, will the result affect both the Internet broadcast and package injection or just one of them?

 ;)

Ok, what powerful cards do you suggest?

Some more experienced wardriver might correct the suggestion, but I found the Realtek RTL8187L chip of my old AWUS036H to be quite convenient. If I remember correctly, I attached a 9dBi antenna to it - only for randomly screwing around, nothing special/serious. However, it served the purpose very well  :D

But since I don't know much about atheros hardware, I couldn't even tell if the 87L would be an up- or downgrade for you. Please note that I am no expert in the field :x

Do you mean an Alfa AWUS036H RTL8187L?

I heard something about Normal adapters and Amplified adapters, I guess my AWUS036NHA is a Normal adapter. Poor me.

So, I continue wondering... if my adapter is a piece of shit, what adapter + antenna will be the best choice for a professional hacking? it doesn't care if the adapter costed  $300, I just wanna have a good stuff.

PD: I'm a Linux user.
