Metasploit crashes remote system

Hey guys, im kinda new to all this and i need some help. Im running backtrack 5 r3 and win xp on virtualbox as a testing lab, and im tryin to use the ms08_067_netapi exploit, but i keep crashing the remote system and i cant figure it out. Any help?

Backtrack is great, but really obsolete. Try Kali linux

yeah you probaly was reading a old tutorial... the backtrack people made another pentest distro called KALI Linux, which is the best pentest distro out there... and they set up metasploit to work better on KALI than it did on BACKTRACK... so get KALI Linux and read a tutorial on how to use that exploit with KALI which theres a shitload of em out there... shouldn't be too different from how you use it in backtrack, but just in case i'd recommend you look for KALI tutorials...

There are alot of different hacking Distros. If you are new you should try some out in Vms and see what works best for u.


Not all XP machines are vulnerable to that exploit, if u need a different version that isnt updated you can get windows trial VMs to practice on here http://dev.modern.ie/tools/vms/
