Transparent locks for beginning lockpicking - yay or nay

I was asking on IRC what do people think about this and this, because I was gonna buy them to practice, but Khofo was against it:

I think being able to see whats going on while you are picking it  would help alot and make learning faster.

Transparent locks are good to start but you will get tired of them very quick. I started this way and when learned how this works never used again this locks.

The only one I still use because it's a little different (and fun) is transparent handcuffs

khofo is right in one way, visualization for a skill like that is key(heh pun!). But if your not good at visualizing in three dimensions it could be a helpful tool so i say go for it.

Not the same as fighting/defending yourself in a bar or other hostile environments.
You condition yourself to be soft.

I understand what khofo is saying, but it depends on the individual. My opinion is that these transparent locks might even help your imagination later on if you already have problems.
Just don't get overly used to being able to watch the mechanism.

I never had one but for really complex locks with multiple array's of pins it would be good for a first time.
Not too high sec locks can pretty much all be picked blindly, at least thats how I learned this stuff, one learns to navigate on sound and touch.

For basic locks as sold for the general public I would say no.
For security locks I would say yes (be ready to spend a few bucks).

Thread may have been dead, but I came across this in the search as I purchased my own set and they arrived not but 3 days ago. I have since picked Every lock in the house (about 15, including a door I picked and stole the lock from) basically having these see through locks, can't hurt, but I just took my time and got the locks open in a few minutes on the first try with visualizing the lock insides.

There genuinely is no rush like doing that for the first time and sitting in disbelief at how easy it is to get into houses.

Aliexpress had a much better offer, but it seems that they banned lockpicks

I once managed to pick my door lock using two hairpins, but it took me at least an hour, it was awful.

I say second one if you must buy from dx, it has a bigger variety of hook picks, which is what you will use most of the time. But beware that there are 2 types of picks sets - for europe and for america. Picks for European locks are thinner/smaller, because locks have narrower keyholes, so they say.
