Career Move
« on: September 27, 2015, 09:27:27 pm »
I currently work a job doing tech support for an ISP. I feel this is a good entry job but don't want to stay here. My end goal is to be a pen. tester. I feel that for the next few years will just be resume building for that. I feel that my next stop on this journey should be to land a coding job for a while. Ill me at my current job for a year in Feb. What do you guys think? any advice?

I'd say it's a good choice, make "hacking" your hobby and if you get good at it, aim for professional level. You still need to get a good foundation of programming before going into "pentesting".

I work tech support as well, just hang in there and keep learning. I'm in an online cyber security program at my school while working here so it works out great. I'm available for pm as well.

Thanks! I was in a CS program at my university but after 2.5 years I felt as if I had learned nothing and ended up with $20k in school debt and have taken to semester off to figure out if Im going back or if Im better off just getting certs and experience.

Same with me bro... I regret that 2k euro I spent for one semester, and decided that I should leave and get experience myself.
