Remove Laptop BIOS password.
« on: October 10, 2015, 05:03:40 pm »
Hello.
I have a Asus laptop model K55v and I want to remove BIOS password. How can I do it? Remove BIOS battery in Laptop is not logical.
I did :

Step 1. Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode.
Step 2. When you get to the C:> or C: WINDOWS> prompt, type DEBUG and press Enter.
A hyphen (-) prompt will appear waiting for you to enter commands.

Step 3. Enter the following commands, pressing Enter after each one.

Note: the o is the better o and stands for OUTPUT.
O 70 2e
0 71 ff
Q
Step 4. After the q command (which stands for QUIT), enter Exit.

But not worked :(

Try looking up the default BIOS password from the manufacturer. May have been changed but is still worth a shot I'd say.

This process should work.

Go to your local gun store and buy a 9mm or higher caliber pistol. Load gun with proper ammunition, apply barrel to temple, pull the trigger. Repeat as needed.

there should be a BIOS brute force tool you can boot into, haven't tried but it does exist. Otherwise try the default BIOS passwords.

Who cares about warants. By the time you need one, you will most probably alredy need a new laptop. If you can't unsrew you aptop, then you might as well ditch the hacker in you, cos now how will you hack your own laptop?
If you can't explain it to a 6 year old, you don't understand it yourself.

While that is true, I too usually tend not to rip open things when they still have warranty, because if you do and you can't fix it, then you'll need to buy a new one/pay for repairs, instead of getting it replaced or fixed for free.

You could try this:

1. Boot normally
2. Change the date to something between 2002-01-02 and 2011-12-31
3. Reboot and enter BIOS
4. If it asks for a password, press Alt+R and it should ask you for a rescue password
5. Use the list at http://pastebin.com/L3c3rySj to find the needed password for your date
6. Type it in and it should work.

Dave knows stuff, maybe try this.

Plus, sellers usually do have understanding for opening a laptop, since it gets full of dust pretty soon. At least they do at my store.

the CMOS battery is under the keyboard on this so you have to take it apart a good bit so that would suck ..

How did it get a password put on it , I have alot of asus laptops and never had one with a bios password by default ?

-----

You could maybe give this tool a try http://tools.kali.org/password-attacks/cmospwd   .. never tried it just seen it thought id share
