New Board: High Quality Tutorials

Hello and good day

Ok not very big news, but news none the less. As a trail run, I have created a "HQ Tutorials" board that sits right above the standard tutorials board.

So why?

Ok well we've come to the realization that good content is often overlooked or drowned out with a bunch of lower quality tutorials. We have always prized ourselves with having quality over quantity. This board is meant to separate the HQ from the masses so they're easier to find and reference. You can find the new board here:

Also don't fret if a tutorial is not in there, Myself, thewormkill and other staff members are working on combing through the tutorials to move the ones that should be moved. If there is a tutorial you find that is of high quality that currently isn't in that board, feel free to report the tutorial so it can be reviewed and moved at staffs discretion.

Also feel free to express your thoughts on this minor change.

Is this a place where any member can post what they believe to be HQ or will this be a board that entries are voted on or only moved to by mods?

The posts requirement to view isn't warranted yet and hasn't bee discussed yet. When the board is properly set up, it won't have a new topic provision but only HQ tutorials, voted and vetted, will be moved there by Staff and mods.

So write good tutorials and you might get yourself huge chunk of cookies, a chance to feature your article in Evilzone's revived services (/placeholder) that are yet to be announce at the turn of the month, (damn, i spilled that) and other platforms to come. Maybe get a tutorial of the month, hehe.

Seriously, keep them coming for the good of our community. Hope this motivates you enough to open the editor.

Currently its set up to where VIP+ members can post directly, anyone else would have to be approved (I copied the permissions from the ebook board) however I do not feel HQ tutorials should be behind a post count. This knowledge that people spend the time to make are meant to be seen. This is to make them easier to find. I like the ebooks being behind a post count because of DCMA.

Who thought up this HQ section idea? its horrible! (no one had complained yet, i felt i should be the first).

Anyway i agree with the restriction to ebooks/no post count restriction with the HQ tut section. The reason behind that is rather simple. For the ebook section the VAST majority of the content provided is provided by a few dedicated(and awesome) people. Their work should be protected from having to constantly redo it(DCMA), and from pure leachers. The tut section(and HQ tut section) has been and i hope always will be provided by the community FOR the community. It is also one of the biggest draws TO the community. To put it behind a requirement(other than being a highly useful tutorial) would imo go against everything  "hacking" and a community like this should stand for which is the open and free distribution of knowledge.

I find the HQ section useful. As a beginner I find it kinda hard to distinguish the quality tuts from the bad ones. Having someone more experienced review the content and approve it is very helpful. The less quality tuts make more sense after going over the good ones. Good work there, thanks.

We usually just leave quality tutorials, and remove crap tutorials, so we only have quality ones but some get buried and forgotten, so this board will help to bring them back into light again!
